Most of us humans are not maturing as much as we can and certainly not as much as we ought to do considering the problems we face.

Given the problems of poverty, racism, environmental destruction, hunger and the like, we no longer have the luxury of merely growing up into the kind of adults our culture is currently producing.
To become a useful elder, commune with nature and write down how using your strengths makes you more able to handle conflict with grace, help you to see opportunities in negative events, and help you to remember that one’s own problems are small when compared to the problems facing the whole world.
We need to become comprehensively mature (both inside and out) to the point that will be necessary if a person is to become a useful elder.
Almost all of us are maturing physically but we are not maturing psychologically or spiritually.
