Key Assertions That Help To Summarize This Article:

Test the validity of claims.

Testing the validity of personal assumptions and the claims presented to us by others requires an understanding of the four major aspects of Oneness.

Sincerity is the criterion for testing claims in the realm of intentions, truth for the realm of behaviors and the physical fit of systems, and appropriateness for the realm of ethics and morals.

We all need to know whether what we experience is sincere, true, and appropriate. Sometimes we fall off course in our lives because we seek claims of truth where claims of appropriateness are more fruitful, or because we seek claims of sincerity where claims of truth are what really matters. There is, for example, no point in testing the truth of my claims of intentions when it is my claims of sincerity that are telling. In the same way, there is less to gain by testing the validity claims of behaviors in terms of appropriateness when the truth of the behaviors is a more useful test. The test for ethical claims is not a matter of truth or sincerity, but of appropriateness.

Testing the validity of personal assumptions and the claims presented to us by others requires an understanding of the four major aspects of Oneness described previously. Each realm has its own criterion for testing the validity of claims (the expressed soundness of what is planned, said, done, or claimed): sincerity is the criterion for testing claims in the realm of intentions; truth for the realm of behaviors and for the realm of physical fit of systems and collective behaviors (in each of these exterior realms oral or visual “maps/models” need to match the territory, for example); and appropriateness is the criterion for testing claims for the realm of ethics and morals. Keep these criterion in mind whenever you test the validity of a claim, both in and outside of the Heartwood Path.
