Key Assertions: Your Soul is your own cove in the ocean of the Spirit.+ To come to know the realm of the Soul, one needs to stop being preoccupied with the rational mind (stop relying too much on the intellect).+ Know that there is no distance between one’s personality and one’s vast and unending experience we call one’s “Soul.”+True guidance from the spiritual realm does not interfere with free will, nor does it express anything that is judgmental, critical, selfish, or negative.

To really perceive the beauty of the outer world one needs serenity in the inner world. While some of this serenity comes from the mental realm inside one’s mind, a bigger portion comes from the theological realm of the Spirit within one’s inner world.

Determining the source of one’s inner world serenity––that is, whether it comes from one’s own personal thoughts or from sources that are ecological or spiritual––may be a mystery for you at this point. Some of the descriptions that follow––explanations about your inner world images and thoughts plus discussions of the Soul that spans both inner/outer and lower/higher realms of existence––will help you find appropriate and important sources of serenity.

Your Soul is your own cove in the ocean of the Spirit. To come to know the realm of the Soul, one needs to overcome the preoccupation with the intellect. Think of your Soul as a vast and unending experience. It enables the largest conversation you can have with the world.

Know that there is no distance between one’s personality and one’s Soul. Since the Soul has no way to manifest itself in the world, it needs the Ego to be made real. The “Ego is long on know-how and short on know-why; the opposite is true of the Soul” (Plotkin, 2013, p. 25).

Accept that the traditional scientific method could cause one to feel lost in an impersonal world. Feel that one’s connection to the larger realities of life is rooted in a deep love that is permanent and not diminished by the temporary maladies of the physical world such as pain, fear, and frustration.

Know that it will be difficult, but not impossible, to determine the difference between thoughts and spiritual guidance. True guidance from the spiritual realm does not interfere with free will, nor does it express anything that is judgmental, critical, or selfish.

Such lower forms of expression are inspired instead by one’s “Sub-personalities.” Getting past such negative and immature forms of assistance––help that may come from the what may be an orphaned, wounded, immature, inner world Sub-personality––will help you find good a good source of serenity and overcome any preoccupation with the Intellect. This worthy endeavor is the topic of the next activity.

Healing Your Relationship With Your Inner World Immature Helpers

Or this activity, develop new strategies for dealing with emotions. Arenas in which you can practice to become more mature in your emotions include: discovering your genuine values and feelings, assessing your authentic social roles where your emotions are put to the test, learning ways to protect yourself from the immature criticisms and rejections of others, honing your negotiation skills, developing skills that are community building, and becoming more self-reliant. In all of these arenas, use the following four steps for moving deeper into your emotions, for legitimizing them, and for making yourself more comfortable with them, as identified by Bill Plotkin (2013, p. 170):

  1. Identify the emotions of you or someone else's Wounded Children (are they angry, hurt, guilty, ashamed, sad, sacred, jealous, envious, hopeless?);

  2. Determine what happened to elicit the emotion;

  3. Mention how it makes total sense how the Wounded Children are feeling;

  4. Determine what these emotions say about yourself or the other emotional party.

Write down in your journal what you learned about the emotion under consideration and what you learned by the emotional person and/or yourself. Continue your pathway to Gladandgreen Junction.
