Key Assertions: Abundant possibilities exist beyond what you now think are “realistic options.” Discover your evolved Self––one you will be when you no longer care about the judgments and opinions of others. Some of the best advice you can receive can come when you have an imaginary conversation with your Future Core Self
Here you are challenged to move beyond the limits you may have set for your life purpose. Abundant possibilities exist beyond what you now think are “realistic options.”
Your “Future Core Self” is the one you are becoming as you progress down the Heartwood Path to your own place of fulfillment. Your Future Core Self is your Higher Self that can rise above the influences of your own Inner Critic or others who provide negative influences in your life. For now, break your pattern of adapting and accommodating. Break away from any possible limiting views you may be harboring. Discover your evolved Self. This is the one you will be when you no longer care about the judgments and opinions of others. Some of the best advice you can receive can come from your Future Core Self. To obtain such advice, have an imaginary conversation with your Future Core Self, as described in the following activity.

HumaNatureConnect Activity
Obtaining Advice From Your Future Core Self
For this activity, obtain advice from your Future Core Self. Begin by closing your eyes and focusing on your breath. Create in your mind a time machine that can transport you five, ten, or twenty years into the future. Allow this machine to transport you to your ideal future environment—a place where your Future Core Self vacations, lives, or works. Imagine finding two chairs there, greeting your Future Core Self and sitting down for a meaningful conversation. Pause for a moment to scan the scene. Bring all the details of this place, including your Future Core Self, into your consciousness. Now is your chance to ask your Future Core Self anything you like. Perhaps you may want to know what your next step is to move forward. Pause and listen to the answer. Perhaps you may be interested in what your Future Self remembers most about the last twenty years. Pause and listen to the answer. Perhaps you need to know what you need to be most aware of as you make your journey from where you are to where your Future Self is. Pause and listen to the answer. You may receive a name from your Future Core Self. Note what name you receive. You may discover that there is no spouse twenty years from now. Do not be alarmed. This is not a psychic prediction. Try again. This exercise can call you forward into your life. Consider at some point asking your Future Core Self what brings him/her joy, excitement, contentment, or a sense of accomplishment.
If, during any of the ponderings you that you are encouraged to do along the Heartwood Path, you do not know an answer, ask yourself what your Future Core Self would say. Ask yourself what is the bridge between you and your Future Core Self. Listen to stories told by your Future Self. Ask for your Future Core Self’s list of, for you, future New Year’s resolutions. Ask what would be your Future Core Self’s agenda for the day. Check the advice of your Inner Critic against the advice of your Future Core Self.

Nocturnal Pilgrimage
Nocturnal Pilgrimage 2.27:
Tend To Your Dreams Before Heading To The Next Waypoint
Here’s the kind of intelligent dream-oriented message you might expect to receive during your conversation with your ideal Future Core Self:
“During my lifetime, much of which is still in your future, I received many benefits from my dreams. I started my life only becoming aware of my dreams as vague, sporadic, and fleeting recollections. Using the kinds of dream incubation techniques you are proposing, I started to become conscious that I was dreaming while still sleeping. Then, I was able to direct the action of my dreams and control what happened. My life really began to take off after I was able to change the content of my dreams. That’s when my nocturnal pilgrimages, as you call them, really began to pay off. By controlling the dreams in the ways you suggest, I was able to become the ideal Future Core Self you see before you. All because my dreams—your dreams—came true!
