Key Assertions That Help To Summarize This Article:

Humans, composed of all levels of depth––Spirit, matter, life, mind, and Soul––are, thus, the most significant performers of the symphony of the universe.

Humans allow the Universe to achieve its own recognition.

A great source of knowledge is one’s psyche during dreams, especially if one tends to them by making associations, by amplifying them, or by animating them.

Revere both the lower levels and the upper levels of a person’s spiritual development without exceptions; as all material things, life, and mind are manifestations of Spirit. At the same time, be able to make distinctions in fundamental, built-in, intrinsic worth based on the gradations of depth––levels of spiritual maturity.

Spirit pervades all cosmic persuasions: matter, life, mind, and Soul. Humans are composed of Spirit, matter, life, mind, and Soul. They also can achieve high levels of spiritual maturity, becoming, if they wish and work to achieve it, the level of a secular saint.

This level is achieved by those who are driven easily to fight injustice for the sake of all sentient beings. Also, being self aware, they allow the Universe to achieve its own recognition.

Everything is to be honored, but humans hold a special place. They are the most significant performers of the symphony of the universe.

HumaNatureConnect Activity

Honoring All Levels Of Depth

For this activity, honor the whole Chain of Being, from the simplest beings to the most complex beings. In this activity, we will be honoring for the sake of others and not just for the sake of you as a Heartwood Path participant. In order for this honoring to be felt beyond yourself and beyond other humans, it will be helpful to find sensitivities that other beings have that correspond with senses or sensitivities that you as a human being also have or can develop. Using Dr. Cohen’s System of Natural Senses, we will provide you with a complete list of sensitivities that exist as the various strands throughout the natural web of life. It will be up to you to determine, through observation and imagination, what beings with a particular sensitivity you wish to honor, and how you wish to honor these fellow beings. Use the following set of questions as your guide:

After you answer each of the questions below determine how you could use your natural senses to honor the beings you identify? If you do honor one or more beings, write down your impressions in your journal.

Nocturnal Pilgrimage

Before arriving at the next waypoint, sleep and dream. By being patient and respectful, you can witness your Dream Images (a sunset, for example) and your Dream Characters (a pelican, for example) being alive during your Dream Tending. Doing so will give you insight and a fresh perspective. You will be tapping into the intelligence of the sunset, the pelican, the tree, or the whale. The intelligence of such natural being Dream Images and Characters, especially if you first apply the Natural Systems Thinking Process to these beings during your HumaNatureConnect Activities, will likely come to you during your Dream Tending.
