To promote lucid dreams that are rooted in natural being impressions from the daytime, and to give relevance to these dreams, you can consciously bridge your waking ecological experiences with your dream life.

1. Deepen Daytime Engagement with Nature
Spend intentional time with natural beings—trees, animals, rivers—not just observing, but emotionally connecting.
Use all senses: feel bark, watch leaf patterns, listen to birds, smell soil, notice sunlight angles.
Form a felt relationship, not just intellectual knowledge. These vivid, embodied impressions prime your dream world with meaningful material.
2. Reflect and Record Before Sleep
Journal your nature experiences at day’s end: What moved you? What images stayed with you? What felt symbolic or mysterious?
As you write, invite those impressions to return to you in dreams. This primes your subconscious to carry them into dream space.
3. Set Lucid Intentions Rooted in Nature
Before sleep, repeat a phrase like: “Tonight I will return to the forest/creek/wind I felt today, and know I am dreaming.”
Imagine yourself walking into that natural place within your dream. This intention increases dream awareness and creates a recognizable anchor.
4. Connect Symbolically and Emotionally
Consider the meaning of the natural being you encountered: What does the tree represent? What wisdom does the hawk carry?
These archetypal qualities—resilience, flow, shelter—will embed themselves in dream images with deeper relevance and personal insight.
5. Practice Dream Re-entry and Tending
Upon waking, revisit your dream gently. Ask: What natural force was present? What did it offer or ask of me?
Use dream-tending techniques to dialog with the elements or beings that appeared.
Revisit nature the next day with your dream in mind—this completes the loop between waking and dreaming worlds, and strengthens your relationship to both.

Nocturnal Pilgrimage
Sleep. Attend to your day dreaming. Examine your memories of your experiences with your chosen attractive natural beings. Use association, amplification, or animation, whichever you determine that gives you the most insight.
To proceed well, you will need to be able to distinguish lucid dreaming (which is controlling a dream once you are in it) from incubating a dream (which “allows you to set the stage for your dream before falling asleep). Putting these two together makes for some very productive sleeping. Both lucid dreams and incubating a dream will be covered more extensively later in this course.
