Understand The Value Of Meditation
Each person has tens of thousands of thoughts each day. The problem with having these thoughts is that they are usually the same as the day before and the same as those that will come each future day. Almost all that we think is mindless chatter—repetitive, judgmental, or otherwise unproductive. Meditation helps to slow down the chatter; finds the gaps between thoughts; and reveals in these gaps the illusion of one’s separation from the Absolute, Nature, and each other. What remains after the meditation removes the thoughts, the concepts, the opinions, and the beliefs is the spaciousness of consciousness. In the space between thoughts you will find a sense of peace in a realm that is normally unknowable.
In that space of peace deep within the pond of your mind where the often-disturbing chatter of thoughts are not overbearing important knowings have a chance to emerge. One such important knowing––why you get up in the morning–– can come to you by doing the next activity.
If this is not a day when you prefer to spend time in nature without an agenda, do the following activity:
Entering Into The Depths Of Your Mind
HumaNatureConnect Activity: Entering Into The Depths Of Your Mind. With pen and journal in hand, go to an attractive natural area and, in a spirit of appreciation, look around you to find something that is attractive to you. Once you find an aspect of nature that is attractive to you continuously for at least ten seconds, use the optimal functioning you receive along with your continued attraction (which can be thought of as your consent to do this activity with the help of the attractive natural being) to enter once again into the depth of your mind. Follow your breathing to control your thoughts. Once the chatter is minimized allow the following question to emerge into the deep, calmness of your awareness: “Why do I get up in the morning? Answer this question and record your answer in your journal.
Natural Systems Reflection Process
For best results, write down your impressions of this activity in your journal using as many of the following components as you see fit, afterwards, share your interpretations with others.
