Introducing "Heartwood Path Beat"
What the “Heartwood Path Beat” Is.
The Heartwood Path is a course of study and action that solves core issues—from personal to planetary—by helping sojourners maximize their potential with the help of nature. The name "Heartwood Path Beat", which combines key rhythmic and natural elements, has a rich metaphorical meaning. The word "Heartwood", which is a metaphor for the strength, depth, and endurance found at the core of the tree's innermost portion, is evocative. This part of the name symbolizes a strong foundation, inner strength and resilience. The word "Path", which suggests a journey with a goal, introduces an idea of direction and progress. And “Beat" adds rhythm and regularity to convey a dynamic and lively quality.
The name "Heartwood Path Beat," when used as a title for a newsletter, implies that the publication provides readers with substantial and lasting insights (heartwood) and guides them on a meaningful journey (path), while keeping a constant and vibrant rhythm (beat). This combination implies content which resonates with personal development, nature, and a lifestyle that is purposeful. The newsletter is designed to be current and relevant, providing timely, engaging and inspiring information. It also aims at establishing strong connections with readers and infusing its content with energy and vitality.
Who I Am.
Hello, my name is Don Pierce. For over fifty-five years I have been an environmentalist. Then, after some political changes, I added personal growth to my offerings. I started by working to “save the earth” one wild place at a time. Then I added “saving the earth” one person at a time. I now add work in ecopsychology to my endeavors in environmental action. I divide my time between California and Missouri, mainly so I can visit my children and grandchildren. I am writing what I call the “Heartwood Path,” a course of learning and action that helps sojourners solve core issues by maximizing their potential with the help of nature. I enjoy playing the drums, hiking in nature, canoeing, and writing.
Why I’m Making This Substack.
To bring the wisdom found along the Heartwood Path to more people. And to make a place for the sharing of new discoveries, current events, and reader interaction.
Why Now.
We face mounting challenges. The sooner we instigate solutions the better off we will be.
What To Expect.
Provocative ideas on ways you can make a difference, grow happily as a person, and persevere. Each post will contain a lively discussion followed by a revelatory experience. Be sure to both read the text and do the activities. An introductory taste is provided in the first post.
What Content I Will Share.
The topic will be a mixture of environmental advocacy with fun personal growth. We will cover the environmentalist as much as we cover the environment. We will be solution-oriented, and give you the tools necessary to grow into an effective elder bent on both helping people grow personally (and happily) and solve both personal and planetary problems—all with the help of nature.
How Often.
Expect to see daily posts, some on eternal topics and others more geared toward current events.
How Much It Costs.
The cost of this Substack subscription$ 6.00 per month or $50.00 per year. We have a special “Founding Member” option with additional benefits as well.
Guidance
It is best to go down the Heartwood Path with a guide who can answer questions, show you how to discover more, help you solve problems, offer inspiration, and encourage you to dig deeper and keep going. Perhaps you may wonder how a piece of information discovered along the Heartwood Path applies to you. If so, a Guide can help. Perhaps you would like to share your own experiences and perspectives with someone who listens well and does not judge. If so, sign-up for Guidance. It happens in person, on the phone, and online. The fees are very reasonable.
